LANDSIDE TERMINAL EXPANSION
ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
As part of the $600+ million
expansion program, our firm was responsible for the structural design of the Terminal
Building. The building footprint covers approximately 1,440,000 ft². It is
11 stories high and contains a 9 story clear interior atrium covered by 25,000
ft² skylight. Transportation related designs include a Depressed Roadway,
Above Ground Transportation Station, Rent-A-Car Tunnel, Tug
Drives (high speed baggage transportation system) and Underground
Concourse.
KYCA provided construction
administration as well as the construction sequence, temporary supports, etc. Design
and construction documents for this fast track project were completed within
ten months.
