Kun-young Chiu, P.E., F.ASCE and Jeffrey S.
Chiu, P.E., NCEES principals of KYCA, a local engineering firm, recently
attended the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) annual
convention at Callaway Gardens, Georgia from June 2-5, 2005. The four day
conference included a series of seminars regarding the engineering community.
Jeffrey Chiu was certified as a Level II Design Professional by
the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC), meeting the
education and training certification requirements for persons involved with
land disturbing activities. He is authorized to design and review
erosion, sedimentation and pollution control plans.
Under OCGA
12-7-19, after December 31, 2006, all persons involved in land development
design shall meet education and training certification requirements required by
Georgia law. The level II pilot course offered by the GSWCC
trained engineers to design and review erosion, sedimentation, and pollution
control plans. The course also satisfies the requirements for Qualified
Personnel under Georgia’s NPDES General Permitting for Construction Activities.
